What Happens at La Tomatina?

1. The Build-Up!

Before the battle begins, the festival kicks off with music, parades, and food stalls. The most entertaining part? The Palo Jabón challenge!

🎯 Palo Jabón: A tall wooden pole covered in grease with a ham at the top. Brave participants try to climb it while the crowd cheers!

2. The Epic Tomato Fight!

At 11 AM sharp, a water cannon fires, signaling the start of the battle! For one full hour, tomatoes fly everywhere as thousands of people laugh, splash, and get covered in red pulp!

🔹 RULES OF THE GAME:
✔ Only squashed tomatoes can be thrown (no injuries!)
✔ No tearing clothes (it’s a food fight, not a wrestling match! 😆)
✔ Stop when the second cannon fires – the fun must end!

3. The Clean-Up!

Once the madness ends, the town washes everything down, and people head to the nearby Buñol River for a refreshing cleanup!

💡 Fun Fact: Tomatoes act as a natural disinfectant, making Buñol’s streets cleaner than before!
